Central Recreation Public Meeting
The purpose of this meeting is to collect input from public stakeholders regarding the recreational use of District conservation lands in the central recreation area. The central recreation area includes 18 District properties located in Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Marion, Orange, Putnam, Seminole and Volusia counties. All interested members of the public are encouraged to participate in this meeting.

- Where: Apopka Service Center – Econ Conference Room – 2501 S Binion Rd, Apopka, FL 32703
District staff will receive comments from the public during the meeting. If you are unable to attend in person and would like to provide a comment or question, please email CentralRecreationComments@sjrwmd.com. The answers will be returned via email after the meeting.
Topics, as they relate to public recreational utilization of District lands, will include:
- Overview of recreation on District lands
- Land management updates North Central, Southwest and South Central regions
- Opportunity for public comment
Draft Lower St. Johns River Basin Plan Public Meeting
The St. Johns River Water Management District (District) will host a public meeting on the draft 2026 Lower St. Johns River Basin Plan. District staff will present updated regional priorities and objectives, answer questions, and provide an opportunity for public comments.

- Date: Monday, Sept. 28
- Time: 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Where: District Headquarters – 4049 Reid Street, Palatka, FL 32177
- Attendance: Register here (required for both in-person and virtual attendance)
The draft basin plan will be posted on the District’s website Sept. 30. A formal public comment period will be open from Sept. 30 through Oct. 21.

Recreation Announcements
Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive Advisory
On Friday, Sept. 18, the Lakeshore spur (from the pumphouse to Laughlin Road) section of the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive will be closed for restoration work. The remainder of the wildlife drive will remain open to visitors. Please use caution, as construction vehicles will be operating within the area.
The Lakeshore Spur will reopen and resume normal operations on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Canaveral Marshes Conservation Area closure
Canaveral Marshes Conservation Area will be closed to public recreation Sept. 9–10, 2026, for resource management activities. For questions, please contact Patrick McCord at (386) 643-1154.
Lake Jesup Conservation Area closure
Lake Jesup Conservation Area will be closed to public recreation Sept. 9–10, 2026, for resource management activities. For questions, please contact Patrick McCord at (386) 643-1154.
Lake Monroe Conservation Area closure
Lake Monroe Conservation Area will be closed to public recreation Sept. 9–10, 2026, for resource management activities. For questions, please contact Patrick McCord at (386) 643-1154.
Seminole Ranch Conservation Area closure
Seminole Ranch Conservation Area will be closed to public recreation Sept. 9–10, 2026, for resource management activities. For questions, please contact Patrick McCord at (386) 643-1154.
The Apopka-Beauclair Lock will be temporarily closed to navigation from Monday, Sept. 14, through Thursday, Sept. 17, to allow for a scheduled inspection of the lock’s concrete and steel structure.
The lock is expected to reopen and resume normal operations on Friday, Sept. 18.

Burrell Lock is now open and has resumed normal operations
Boaters and visitors can once again use Burrell Lock during its regular operating schedule. Thank you for your patience while maintenance was completed.

Temporary Website Outages
